01

GEO observation definitions

Brand mention

A monitored answer names or otherwise identifies the target brand. A mention alone does not imply endorsement or a leading position.

First recommendation

The target brand is the first brand recommended in an answer where a recommendation order can be determined.

Correct brand understanding and deviation

Correct understanding means the answer identifies the intended brand and represents it consistently with the monitored brand facts. A deviation is an observed conflict, material inaccuracy, or unsupported association.

Entity confusion

The answer conflates the target brand with another entity, product, organization, or similarly named subject.

Official website citation

The answer cites or links to the configured official website as a source. Other cited domains are recorded separately.

02

AI visibility

AI visibility is a normalized percentage that summarizes the target brand’s presence and relative position across the configured question set. Higher recommendation positions contribute more than lower positions, a mention without a leading position contributes less, and an answer in which the brand is absent contributes zero.

03

SEO visibility

SEO visibility is a normalized percentage that summarizes organic ranking performance across the configured keyword set. Higher search positions contribute more than lower positions, while keywords outside the measured range or pages that are not indexed contribute zero.

04

Measurement framework

The measurement framework is reviewed as generative AI platforms, search systems, and observation practices evolve. Customer-facing results should identify the applicable methodology version and provide the context needed for interpretation.

05

Interpreting the results

Both measures are scoped summaries. Comparisons are most useful when the brand, market, language, prompts, keywords, platforms, and observation method remain consistent between periods.
